Case Study: The Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project 1

The Pittsburgh Tote Bag ProjectThe Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project was founded in April 2011 as an all volunteer project. We are an affiliate of The Thomas Merton Center, a 501c3 organization based in Pittsburgh. In partnership, we serve residents in 12 counties.

In partnership with Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and dozens of organizations, we have permanent drop-off spots, organize tote bag drives and partner with corporations to collect extra PR. We have collected over 13,000 bags.

“Tell Me Pittsburgh” is a storytelling series from The Pittsburgh Foundation and Bricolage Production Company. In the “Give Me Hope” series, I told the story of why I decided to start The Pittsburgh Tote Bag Project.
