Social media was very useful to share pertinent information about the two main issues the project addressed: hunger and the environment. It was also an effective way to create acknowledgments of our partners, especially the drop-off spots. Entire conversations would play out on social media as people asked about where to donate, generating lots of tags for the partners.
Twitter also led to the collaborative parody video Tote Me Maybe. We recruited participants via social media, mainly Twitter. The drive drew the interest of one of the biggest bloggers in the region, YaJagoff, who engaged his followers.
